As OnePlus prepares to launch its next flagship, China operations head Louis Jie released a teaser showcasing the OnePlus 12’s three cameras. We already know that the smartphone will be available in three colors, including black, white and green. . Additionally, the phone is said to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. However, the recent teaser contains more details than ever about the phone’s camera.
The OnePlus 12’s cameras look familiar
The OnePlus 12 will feature a Sony LYT-808 sensor with 50 MP resolution as the main camera. Additionally, the phone will also feature a 48 MP ultra-wide sensor and a 64 MP telephoto lens offering up to three times optical zoom. In addition to the three cameras, a 13-channel multispectral sensor enhances the sensors’ capabilities.
Even though the OnePlus 12 should click better images
While this is a great camera setup, it’s the same combination we’ve seen on the Oppo Find N3 and the company’s latest foldable, the OnePlus Open. According to a report by GSMArena, the only change seems to be the architecture and sensor design compared to the internal design of the OnePlus 12. However, even though the smartphone has an older camera setup, it could deliver better images , courtesy of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
The chipmaker promised that Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will come with better image signal processing that provides features like semantic segmentation to improve the vibrancy and details of images in real life. Additionally, the processor also provides features such as an object eraser for videos and generative AI for image creation. Even though the new processor offers these features, it is up to OnePlus to implement them in its next smartphone.
OnePlus 12 launch timeline
The OnePlus 12 will be rolling out in China on December 5, 2023. Although the company has not revealed the international launch date, it is believed that the OnePlus 12 could release on January 24, 2023, thanks to a promotional offer on the website.
