According to data calculated by Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), panel shipments for the current iPhone 15 series increased 16% compared to the number of panels shipped for the iPhone 14 series for the same period through October. Deliveries of panels for the iPhone15 were 21% higher than the number shipped during the same period in 2021 for the iPhone 13 lineup.
Last month, iPhone 15 Pro models had a significant 71% share of panels shipped, up from the 65% share recorded by the latest Pro models in September. With this data, and keeping in mind the higher starting price of $1,199 for the iPhone 15 Pro Max with 256 GB of storage, compared to $1,099 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max with 128 GB of storage , the average selling price (ASP) of the iPhone15 the line is 5% higher than its predecessor.
Samsung Display (SDC) remains Apple’s largest supplier, accounting for 81% of panels shipped from June to October for the iPhone15 series. The SDC also represented 82% of the iPhone14 series panels shipped last year during the same period, and 79% of iPhone13 panels shipped during the same period. SDC remains the only Apple panel supplier to have delivered panels for all four iPhone models in 2023, 2022 and 2021.

DSCC notes that LG Display (LGD) began shipping panels in September for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and held an 18% share for this model through October. LGD delivers panels for iPhone 15 Pro And iPhone 15 Pro Max. Chinese company BOE began supplying panels last month for the iPhone15 and holds a 1% share.

The bottom line is that, according to DSCC data, iPhone Pro models are more popular this year than they have been. David Naranjo, DSCC Senior Research Director, said: “Shipments of panels for the iPhone 15 Pro models account for a higher share than iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro models during the June-October period. On a cumulative basis, from June to October, the iPhone 15 Pro the models had a share of 64% compared to a share of 54% for the iPhone14 series and for the iPhone13 series.”
