NBA looks into alleged relationship between Josh Giddey, minor

The NBA is investigating allegations that Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey had an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl, a league spokesperson said Friday.

The allegations surfaced on social media earlier this week.

In a since-deleted post, an anonymous social media user said a girl seen with Giddey in videos and photographs was a high school student at the time. The social media account has since been deactivated.

Giddey, 21, declined to comment Friday.

“I obviously understand the question, but there are no further comments at this time,” Giddey told reporters when asked about the allegations after practice.

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault also declined to discuss the matter after Friday’s practice.

“A personal matter and I have no comment to make on it,” Daigneault told reporters. “And that will be my commentary on everything related to it.”

Giddey, the No. 6 pick in the 2021 draft, is averaging 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game for the 11-4 Thunder, who play next Saturday against the visiting 76ers.
