Man Utd’s Maguire accepts apology from Ghanaian politician،

Manchester United footballer Harry Maguire has accepted an apology from a Ghanaian MP who mocked him during a parliamentary budget debate last year.

Opposition MP Isaac Adongo has compared Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia’s economic management in the troubled West African country to Maguire’s performance on the ground.

In a speech widely shared on social media last year, Adongo compared Bawumia to Maguire, who he described as “the biggest threat in the center of Manchester United’s defence”.

The reference was part of a broader discourse accusing Bawumia of mismanaging the economy and inflicting hardship on citizens.

During a similar debate on the 2024 budget on Tuesday, Adongo said Maguire had “turned the corner” and repeated his analogy.

“I now apologize to Harry Maguire,” Adongo said. “He’s a transformative footballer… he’s now scoring goals for Manchester United.”

“MP Issac Adongo’s apology has been accepted,” Maguire responded Wednesday on X, formerly Twitter.

“See you soon at Old Trafford,” he added.
