YouTube Is Limiting Views For People Using Ad Blockers،

Earlier this month, YouTube launched an experiment in which it paused playback for viewers using an ad blocker and showed them a pop-up. It suggests users to watch the video with ads or upgrade to YouTube Premium for a smooth watching experience. However, this was not as effective, as reports claim that users could simply close the pop-up and resume reading. Now, the video streaming platform is experimenting with another way to curb the use of ad blockers by limiting views.

YouTube limits users to three views

YouTube limits video playback to three views unless users turn off the ad blocker. This indicates that those using ad blocking software should be able to view no more than three videos on the platform. According to a Reddit user who saw the new pop-up message, YouTube warns users about blocking playback after three views unless the ad blocker allows the site or users to disable it. The post also states that YouTube provides a free service to billions of users around the world and ads are a crucial part of it.

In 2022, YouTube generated a total revenue of $29.2 billion from ads, approximately 11% of Google’s total revenue. However, in the fourth quarter of the year, the video streaming platform saw an 8% drop in advertising revenue. The ongoing experiment to limit the use of ad blockers is aimed at increasing the company’s revenue, and this would happen when users watch ads or pay YouTube for a premium subscription.
