Tipster reveals key details about iPhone 16 Pro displays; battery prototype spotted،

We are ten months away from Apple’s big launch next September but that hasn’t stopped the updates from arriving. This comes from two credible sources according to which, we might see an increase in screen size on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max as before. mentioned by Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC).

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max to get bigger screens

According to tipster Revengus, the next-gen iPhone 16 will feature a 6.12-inch LTPS 60Hz display, while the iPhone 16 Plus will feature a 6.69-inch LTPS 60Hz panel. For those who don’t know, these are the exact sizes that the current generation iPhone 15 and 15 Plus carry. There will be some partial improvements on the Dynamic Island, although, unsurprisingly, all four models will sport the new notch.

Moving to the iPhone 16 Pro series, the iPhone 16 Pro features a larger 6.3-inch LTPO display with a dynamic refresh rate of 1-120Hz. Currently, the iPhone 15 Pro features a panel 6.1-inch LTPO which shows a 0.2-inch increase, which is colossal in terms of screen space.

The largest of the iPhones, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will see a 0.2-inch increase from a 6.7-inch LTPO panel to 6.9-inches with a dynamic 1-120Hz refresh rate. Tipster mentioned some general improvements in display components that are yet to be confirmed.

The iPhone 16 series will receive a 3nm A18 Pro chipset

If speculations are to be believed, the entire iPhone 16 lineup is set to get a 3nm A18 Pro chipset. This is different from the 2022 and 2023 lineup where the Pro models get the latest chips while the non-Pro models resort to chips designed for last year’s Pro models. For example, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus use the A16 chipset designed for the iPhone 16 Pro. Likewise, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus use the same chipset as the iPhone 13 Pro series.

Take it with a grain of salt as we will have to wait a long time to get confirmation on this. We doubt that’s true, so we’ll stick with what Apple has been cooking up for two generations.

iPhone 16 Pro battery spotted with metallic finish

A self-proclaimed Apple collector @KosutamiSan on X has published a photo showing the “preliminary” prototype of what appears to be the iPhone 16 Pro battery. It features a shiny metal shell on top and has a capacity of 3,355 mAh. If true, we’re looking at a battery that will be 2.5% larger than the iPhone 15 Pro (3,274 mAh) with a redesigned connector and metal shell.

A few days ago, reports claimed that Apple was testing a new graphene thermal system for the upcoming iPhone 16 series. This would help dissipate heat, which was a major issue on the iPhone 15 series, which could reach 116°F when using certain applications. The metal shell can help with faster heat dissipation while giving longer battery life given its size. iPhone batteries are getting bigger, with the iPhone 15 being 4.6% bigger than the iPhone 14, and so on.
